September Sightings

September is a month bursting with Saints celebrated on the Church's calendar. Today we celebrate a recent Saint, Saint Pius or more popularly named "Pade Pio of Pietrelcina" Italy. Even in his lifetime, Padre Pio was known as a miracle worker. People who came seeking his prayers for various healings were often healed in his presence. Others were brought to good health after praying for his intercession. Recently the Catholic TV network EWTV, The Eternal Word Network,boadcasted an hour-long TV special on the Italian priest. Known to be a conginial yet extremly devout Capuchin Father he experienced what is called the "stigmata"--marks on his hands and feet of the wounds Jesus suffered in his crucifixion and death. When you see photos of Padre Pio you'll notice his hands are wrapped in bandages. Padre Pio Was not one to seek popularity, yet people traveled from around the world to seek his advice and prayers. Spiritual conversions abounded and physical healings seemed non-stop. Of course Padre Pio did not seek popularity. What he wanted to be a humb;e useful servant of God! May Saint Padre Pio help each of us to be patient and loving, and of course prayerful, followers of Jesus Christ!
